The Strength of a Community

Aussie Aluminium was not directly affected by the recent flood waters that hit our beautiful home city of Port Lincoln. But we are fully aware of the impact it had on some of our Staff and their families, our Clients, Suppliers and our community sporting clubs and groups.

We believe in giving back to our community through donations and sponsorships. Many of our clubs and associations, and community groups do not have access to endless funds and it’s up to the local business groups to support them financially to ensure they continue long into the future.

We are proud to get our hands dirty to help our fellow friends through rough times in business, and that is what we did. When St Josephs School had to close for the day to clean up after the floods Anna and I put our hands up and offered our help to do this.  The display of ‘community’ around the school grounds was quite emotionally moving. We have had a long association with this school, being their preferred supplier for maintenance work and working with the building company as a sub contractor for many of their refurbishments and new buildings. It is a relationship that we treasure. Getting our hands dirty and supplying morning tea for the 70 teachers and other volunteers was one way that we could offer our support at such a rough time.

Our Sponsorship and support stories are vast and varied and stretch right throughout the Eyre Peninsula. I am sure over time I will reflect on these and let you know of other ways our team at Aussie Aluminium have stepped up to make a difference.
